Hirunaka no Ryuusei, also known as Daytime Shooting Star, is a romantic, Japanese manga series published in 2011 that also has a live action film adaptation by the same name released in 2017. Suzume Yosano is a 15 year old school girl from the countryside.
Her father gets transferred to Bangladesh so she has to move to Tokyo to live with her uncle and go to highschool. Suzume protests going to Tokyo but to no avail. On her way alone to her uncle’s house from the train station, she gets lost in the huge, new city since her uncle is at work and can’t pick her up.
She faints in a park near her uncle’s place and when she wakes up, she’s at her uncle’s place who explains that the stranger she saw earlier carried her to his house as he knows him in Hirunaka no Ryuusei Manga. Suzume realizes that the stranger isn’t as odd as she first thought. The three of them sit down to have lunch and Suzume drools over the food.
The stranger apologizes for bringing in banana bread instead of cake and they all have lunch. When they’re done eating, the stranger gets up to leave and as she thanks him and says goodbye, the stranger responds with “Bye Chun Chun”.
Suzume wonders if the stranger is her uncle’s boyfriend and assumes that this is the last she’ll see of him. The next day she goes to her new highschool where she finds her classmates talking about her. As she walks down the corridor alone, she hears a familiar voice call her Chun Chun only to find that the stranger she met yesterday is her homeroom teacher!
