Senryuu Shoujo, also known as Senryuu Girl, is a comedy manga series that was first published in October 2016 and has 9 volumes. The story has 2 main characters; a boy and a girl. The first character is a cheerful and cute high school girl named Nanako Yukishiro.
She’s very bad at verbal communication and her primary source of communication is writing senrū; a form of short poetry similar to haiku, on tanzaku. The other character, Eiji Busujima, is an ex-delinquent and also a freshman who struggles to write his own senrū, despite his clear lack of talent, because of his feelings for Nanako.
Nanako is fond of Eiji as well in Senryuu Shoujo Manga. The pair has fun expressing themselves with senrū through school years. There are some other characters as well:
Amane Katagiri; president of the Literature Club, she supports Nanako to impress Eiji and keeps her identity as a successful novelist hidden, Kino Yakobe; a shy girl who communicates only through her drawings, and Koto Ōtsuki, who is Eiji’s best friend and two years older than him.
Most of the chapters in this manga series are in the form of yonkomas (a comic strip format) with some traditional manga pages mixed in. This is a fun read for anyone is into comic or slice of life genres. This manga has also been made into an anime series with the same name and 7 volumes.
